- Know your values or aspirations and live from those
- Write down all your strengths, accomplishments, skills
- Write down your worries – this helps you to stop ruminating
- Everyday write down 3 things you did well and 1 thing you would do differently (or once a week or when you need to)
- At the end of the day reflect on 3 things you are grateful for that day
- Every day do something mindfully, even if just for a minute – (Mindfulness is being aware of moment to moment experience with an engaged, friendly, gentle, curious, non judging attitude)
- Write down your affirmations and say them out loud 3 times to yourself everyday or when you feel you need to eg I am a worthy/loveable person or I am a good friend or I am a skilful athlete, musician, speaker etc
- Everyday for a minute or so, on the in- breath, say “Breath in love” and on the out breathe “breath out stress” or “breath in peace and breath out worry” (or an emotion like sadness). Or everyday for a minute or so, say a “loving kindness meditation” to all those suffering, eg “May you be free of suffering, may you have peace and love. May I be free of suffering, may I have peace and love” and do this mindfully – embody it. Or everyday take a few big breaths or more and then just notice your breathing and when you notice any thoughts just say “thinking” and go back to your breath
- Do something everyday that you like to do eg go for a walk or a swim or a cycle or go to the gym or play a sport or stretch or meditate or practice mindfulness or just PAUSE. Meet up with a friend for a coffee or a chat. Paint, draw, write, listen to music, watch you favourite TV show, sing, dance, read, cook. Let yourself daydream. When you are doing these things immerse yourself in it. Do more than one of these things if your are so inclined
- Eat well, exercise, take time to be still, take time to really engage with others, get enough sleep for you. Trust your intuition.
- Show yourself compassion in the same way you show others compassion. You deserve kindness too.
- SMILE 😉
