Every person does things, think things and feel things.
Sometimes we are aware of what we do, think and feel and sometimes we are not.
To make sense of our world and how we walk in it we all need a way to lift our awareness.
Lifting our awareness can lead to insight. If we have insight we can choose to change (or not).
Some people say a way forward is to change what you do (your behaviour) and certainly that can work.
Some people say change what you think because that will help. I would agree with that too.
Some people say sort out your emotions. I would agree with that too.
But how do we do that?
What if I told you I have a way, in fact, you have your own way to unfold your own way forward? A way to help you get in touch with your own intuitive wisdom.
What if I told you that indeed you hold the key to your own way forward and that I can show you how to open your own lock and walk through any door you choose to walk through? (And that you do not need to walk through any door until you are ready.)
In my experience, and generalising here, there are 2 types of people, those who suppress their emotions and those who become overwhelmed by their emotions. If we suppress our emotions they will remain hidden but unchanged. If we sit in them completely we will become overwhelmed and often we find it hard to function.
What if I told you when you allow and acknowledge and sit next to your feeling (or whatever the something is that you are sensing) and just allow that to be just as it is, it appears, magic can happen?
What if I told you, that no matter what is happening in your life you can sit next to anything that you are sensing and have a conversation with it? This exchange particularly if is done with gentleness (or at least curiosity if you are finding it hard to be gentle) can lead to forward steps (or at least and little easing or settling somewhere on the inside)
If that piques your curiosity you may be interested in reading my posts about how focusing can take us beyond what we think we know and on how focusing works.
The brilliance of Focusing is it is your own process.
The best way I have ever found to find my own way forward is to learn to Focus.
And believe me when I say I have done and still do lots of other great things to help me eg I use affirmations, aspirations, breath, mindfulness, concentrative meditation, disputing negative thoughts, thought stopping and being grateful. I can teach you to do all these things too.
